Spring at the Gallery

Spring is here, the trees are in bloom, the vaccine roll-out is in full swing, and hope is palpable in the air.

Our gallery space has been refreshed and hosts artworks from previous exhibits, including Golden Reflections of Layered Lives by Elizabeth Martineau, that most of you could only see virtually. We also have new pieces by Haitian-American artist 3-D (Wainwright Dawson III) –  among them the gorgeous coffee table in the photograph above (yes, he designs furniture too!).

We have new artworks by Camille Tete Azankpo, Pascal Konan, Gerard Quenum and Saadio on the website; these artists are all present in museums in Europe and Africa. This is a great opportunity to explore their work from the comfort of your home. Speaking of museums, here is a fascinating conversation between Gerard Quenum and curator Dr. Sarah Worden about L’Ange, one of his sculptures acquired by the National Museum of Scotland in 2009 (he is also at the British Museum!).

If you like an artist in particular, we will be happy to send you photographs of their latest realizations.

  • And if you need an artwork for a specific space, most of our artists work on commission and will be thrilled to create one for you.

More to come soon about new artists joining the gallery as well as future exhibits! We are looking forward to welcoming you and your friends again, and thank you for being part of the African Art Beats Community.
