Spring at the Gallery

Spring is here, the trees are in bloom, the vaccine roll-out is in full swing, and hope is palpable in the air. Our gallery space has been refreshed and hosts artworks from previous exhibits, including Golden Reflections of Layered Lives by Elizabeth Martineau, that most of you could only see virtually. We also have new pieces by Haitian-American artist 3-D (Wainwright Dawson III) –  among them the gorgeous coffee table in the photograph above (yes, he designs furniture too!). We have new artworks by Camille Tete Azankpo, Pascal Konan, Gerard Quenum and Saadio on the website; these artists are all present in museums in Europe and Africa. Our 2020 Exhibit : Golden Reflections of Layered Lives by Elizabeth Martineau

Golden Reflections of Layered Lives is a luminous body of work created by DC-based Haitian artist Elizabeth Martineau during the lockdown. In this work, Martineau revisits her trademark themes while also surprising us with subjects born from an inspiration that travels from her native Haiti to the African continent. In spite of the challenges brought by covid-19, African Art Beats decided to curate the exhibit so that art lovers deprived of live art experiences this year could view something beautiful, in the safest possible way. Thinking of you

Just a short note to say that we are thinking of you. We hope that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy and finding ways to cope during these tumultuous times. The gallery is closed until further notice, but we remain available by email and phone. Our next exhibit, planned for early May, is postponed. In the meantime, please visit the gallery online. AAB's Holiday Exhibition

African Art Beats' Cleveland Park gallery opened its doors again this holiday season to art lovers and collectors in the Washington, D.C. area. Centered around Gérard Gabayen's new series, Next Generation, the exhibit also features new paintings, mixed media, and sculptures from emerging and established contemporary artists: Camille Tété Azankpo, Jean Sewonou, Méné, Pascal Konan, Saadio, Souleymane Konate, and Yakhya Ba.
